Soul FoundNation, Anuttara Yoga Shala, Barkan Method

"As in life, balance in our Yoga practice is much more about mental focus and awareness of the present moment than it is about physically muscling our way through the pose or the circumstance presented to us. I believe that Yoga nourishes the Soul and elevates the consciousness of everyone who spends the time to work on themselves while on the mat. Yoga transformed my life over the last decade by strengthening my sense of Self and my physical body, so I am inspired to share the gift of Yoga with the world. Although my educational background is concentrated in Geology, I consider my Self to be a student of the Universe. As with everything in this life, my Yoga practice is constantly evolving and I make a conscious effort to explore all styles and expressions of Yoga to build and... Read the profile >>

Stefanie Gross

In 2009, when Stefanie Gross was teaching a rigorous English class, she noticed the incredible stress that her students were under which was affecting their productivity in class, as well as on their assessments and assignments. In response to their stress, and as a means of introducing cross curricular enrichment activities while reading Siddhartha (by Herman Hesse), Gross introduced yoga and meditation to her English students. She began guiding her students through a daily 5 minute breathing exercise at the start of class as well as a 5 minute Svasana at the end of class. She also integrated a couple of asana/posture sessions. Once the two week unit ended, students and parents were asking for more yoga and meditation because they felt the difference.
