Olney Yoga (www.olneyyoga.com); Sacred Space Yoga (www.sacredspacerockville.com)

Yoga has always been a part of Laura’s life. She has early memories of toddling on her Mum’s yoga mat at Krishnamurti retreats in the ‘70’s and took her first class more than twenty years ago at school in the English countryside where yoga was taught outdoors in the apple orchard.

Laura is a RYT through Yoga Alliance, trained by YogaWorks to teach the very best blend of alignment-oriented Iyengar yoga with the fluid dynamism of Ashtanga yoga. Laura believes a safe and nurturing practise comes from a consideration of the whole body, mind and spirit in every pose and every breath, and from understanding that yoga is not an external “object” or a form of exercise - but a whole way of life!

Leaving her home town of London 7 years ago, Laura was brought to Washington DC by the National Geographic Channel to be the host of their daily TV show. Becoming part of the DC yoga community from her very first morning in the United States, Laura was able to forge an American yoga “family” early on, which she credits as helping enormously in her transition across continents.

Laura credits her good health, positive relationships and joyful outlook to the blessings of yoga. In 2005 she became Mum to Seren Rose, who is sparklingly alert, full of joy and can do a mean down dog when asked. Motherhood convinced Laura that community matters. She is devoted to the idea that yoga can and does forge bridges – between body and mind in the individual, but equally between others; breaking boundaries of fear, cultural tradition or physical distance. Laura’s looking forward to seeing you on or off the mat in our wonderful community soon!
